"We were eternal, the throne ours till the very last! But now darkness befalls our light. The darkest hour begins. And it will be our last." (Artaud)

The legend will leave the stage! With “Darkest Hour” GARDEN OF DELIGHT bid farewell at the height of their career and simultaneously manifest their exceptional position in the Gothic Rock genre. There is hardly any other band that has managed to release high-quality albums over such a long period and attracted a continuously growing number of fans over decades. The overall concept was carefully selected- the epic sound composition of every single album, the visual presentations and the perfect live performances all seemed to be part of a divine scheme. And now with the autumn wind whistling in the trees, GARDEN OF DELIGHT wrapped in long black coats, lay the foundation for their final step: the 60 minutes long oeuvre “Darkest Hour”.

“Darkest Hour” captivates us with its unique intensity. From the first moment we are whisked away into a world full of desperation and hopelessness. No star will shine. The skies are dark and cloudy. Decay and death.... the complete album seems to wind down a spiral staircase towards the final conclusion, the last seconds of being. Powerful and majestic at the beginning, the album becomes more and more fragile and otherworldly until it reaches its climax in the dark and mystic sounds of “Transmission” and “Reign” which can already be regarded as timeless classics.  On the other hand “Dying Sun” or “Adoration” reflect the wrathful and occult ”Lutherion“ era of the band while the other songs represent all decades of GARDEN OF DELIGHT. And this exactly is why the album is coherent and harmonious and leaves the listener with more than only a trace of melancholy.

“Darkest Hour” and the "Best Of" compilation “In Memoriam” (to be released in 2008) will mark the end of the history of GARDEN OF DELIGHT which will be buried on November 1st, 2008.

„To live is a gift. To die, only a prelude to eternity.” (Artaud)
