Chicago's Czar emerge with a huge announcement for Spring 2013: the band have secured the
coveted direct support slot on Killing Joke's North American tour. Says Czar frontman Jason Novak,
"We are absolutely honored to be on the Killing Joke tour and cannot wait to get out there. Killing
Joke are legends who have inspired us personally since the beginning."
The re-release of the CD is expected for late May.
This Album was released some time ago, but the CD is currently sold out due to the fact that CZAR
are supporting KILLING JOKE (and KMFDM on some dates) on their North American Tour.
We are able to offer a special VINYL edition of this massive debut album – while the CD will be
available again in May.
From Revolver mag:
‘Considering that the band members’ roots lay in the Chicago industrial scene, with the now-defunct
band ACUMEN NATION, Czar surprised listeners with their excellent Vertical Mass Burial, an album
of angular alt metal that suggests bands like Mastodon and Helmet more than it did, say, Ministry
and Nine Inch Nails. Still, despite the stylistic shift, Czar maintain a love of industrial music, a passion
they will get to indulge when they hit the road with Killing Joke this spring
Chicago trio Czar’s extraordinary debut album is a fusion of brain and brawn, power and finesse,
brutality and hooks. Czar features members of Acumen Nation and DJ Acucrack, stalwarts of
Chicago’s fabled industrial and electronic scenes. Indeed, Czar’s precise rhythms and dark ambi-
ence point to these roots, but on Vertical Mass Grave the band detonates the limitations of any genre,
opting instead for an anthemic, emotive sound that transcends time and place. The result is not
chaos, it is one cathartic album’s worth of seamlessly crafted songs, an absolute feast for the ears!
DJ Acucrack’s Cracknation has functioned as a production house, creating instrumental tracks for
TV shows, original scores for videogames, and remixes for KMFDM, Frontline Assembly & Prong.
