Usually dedicated to cold wave/deathrock and batcave acts, the label Manic Depression this time went to dig deep in the archives of French Cold Wave! The success of recent re-releases by French cold wave acts, such as Norma Loy, Asylum Party, Babel 17 etc.etc. (all on Infrastition), convinced the label to have a close look and ear at another respected 90s cult-act! Although in existance since the mid 80ies, after various line-up changes, it was not until 1988, when this act stirred up the cold wave scene under the final name ZURÜCK PLACENTA.
ZURÜCK PLACENTA's music is a mix of powerful cold wave and dark 80's gothic rock, with some industrial influences, and even Hard-Core... The band has a strong personality and a sharp and heavy sound. In a Post-Punk attitude (DIY), ZP released a first demo in 1990, then the self-titled album in 1992, produced by Jean Taxis (Asylum Party, Babel 17, Complot Brünswick, Norma Loy…). ZP split in late 1992, leaving behind a unique and mythical album, which deserves its rank among the weird and cult temple of French Cold-Wave. A glacial voice, French lyrics on a dense and powerful carpet of sound, roaring guitars and synths straight out of the graveyard… Essential!
This re-release also contains two live-recordings from the same period!
