“Escape”, the new album by RUNES ORDER—Claudio Dondo’s long-standing dark ambient project—was once again crafted in collaboration with Regen Graves (Abysmal Grief). It emerges as a more dynamic and varied work than its predecessor “Falsche Fragen”.

The album seamlessly blends Berlin School’s defining traits—minimalist repetition, immersive soundscapes, and rich analog synth textures—with horror and thriller-inspired elements, drawing from the works of Fabio Frizzi, Claudio Simonetti (Goblin), and the unmistakable atmospheres of John Carpenter. Yet, it stays true to RUNES ORDER’s core identity, where deep ambient and space-driven passages weave a mesmerizing yet unsettling sonic experience.

The album also sees the return of Spite Extreme Wing member Argento, previously responsible for the unsettling vocals on The Art of Scare and Sorrow (2002), here delivering more spoken-word and declamatory performances.

Additional guests featured on the album include Laura Agerli (Wuornoss Aileen), Labes C. Necrothytus (Abysmal Grief), saxophonist Alessandro Casoni, and Beth P.
