CLIENT

Client are deliberately enigmatic and difficult to define. Initially, the two bustling musicians Kate Holmes and Sarah Blackwood presented themselves as faceless ciphers under the pseudonyms Client A and Client B, only gradually revealing their true identities to the public. "We want to be judged by our music. We also enjoy flirting with anonymity and androgyny." Their tailored look is reminiscent of uniforms: part Eastern European secretary/flight attendant, part dominatrix. The aesthetic reflects themes such as voyeurism, the urban underworld and the dark side of life.

The aesthetic reflects themes such as voyeurism, the urban underworld and the dark side of life. Client's sound is a sober yet seductive take on electro rooted in classic songwriting. Influenced by Joy Division, Kraftwerk, DAF, The Smiths and the songwriting tradition of the English North, Client are the perfect antidote to the ubiquitous feel-good pop.
