Die Anstalt, formed in Berlin in 2023, operate at the crossroads of post-punk, minimal synth, and early EBM. In a remarkably short time, the trio has established itself with an uncompromising blend of synth-punk, classic post-punk, and the raw energy of the industrial underground of the 1980s—yet their sound never feels nostalgic, always firmly rooted in the present.

The band recently signed a worldwide deal with City Slang, which will also reissue their self-released debut album. In autumn 2026, they will join A Place to Bury Strangers on their UK and Ireland tour before returning to Berlin in November for a hometown headline show at the legendary SO36.

Above all, Die Anstalt sound like themselves—even if every listener hears something different. Some are reminded of Malaria!, others hear echoes of Boy Harsher, DAF, early EBM, synth-punk, or X-Mal Deutschland. And then there's that surf guitar that, by all logic, shouldn't work—yet somehow holds everything together.

Die Anstalt are theatrical, confrontational, and hypnotic. They write slogans that linger in your mind. Their anger is justified, and their live performances feel like a carefully controlled explosion.

Their songs give voice to the exhaustion of a generation, the dystopian excesses of the present, warmongers, the manosphere, and the absurdities of our time. Somehow, they sound unmistakably like Berlin. That doesn't happen often—perhaps once a decade, if we're lucky.

Above all, Die Anstalt prove that beneath the noise, beyond algorithms, trends, and the endless chatter of the music industry, something is still burning: anger, conviction, and hope all at once. At their core, Die Anstalt are a punk band. No posing. No compromises. No bullshit. They don't ask for permission—they tear it all down.
