“Shadows Sanctuary” explores the tension between light and darkness as visibility and authenticity in an age of constant exposure. In a world that feels increasingly unstable and exposed, the album stands as a reminder that not everything needs to be visible to be real and that sometimes meaning survives precisely because it remains in the shadows.

“Shadows Sanctuary” frames this condition as both psychological and cultural. Just as underground and subcultural spaces lose their integrity when exposed to excessive visibility, the individual too becomes fragmented under constant illumination. What is overexposed risks becoming emptied of meaning. Against this dynamic, the album introduces the notion of darkness as sanctuary.

Moving through themes of identity, isolation, love and grief, the album reclaims darkness as a space of protection rather than absence. Shaped by years of instability and persistence, it stands as a quiet act of resistance and a reminder that not everything real needs to be seen.
 
HORROR VACUI are in existance since 2010 (with changing line-ups) and look back on 4 albums and countless singles. Their so far latest album was released in 2020, and the band was inactive for some years. In 2024 they returned with a long awaited new release, a limited 7”.

Their unique blend of death rock and post punk needs no further introduction: with 4 records, countless releases and tours worldwide, the unstoppable 5 pieces painted the underground world in dark shadows during their decade of existence. After a recent line up change (that now sees former guitar player Marzia on drums) the 2-tracks single of 2024 worked as a tasty prelude to this their long awaited new full length album!
