Vikowski is an Italian New Wave/Post-Punk trio based in Milan. Drawing influences from artists like Joy Division and The Cure, their music is characterized by a minimalistic aesthetic, deep lyrics that explore themes of solitude, change, and introspection, and a well-defined sonic identity that balances melancholy and hope.
‘Consistency’ revolves around a central theme: persistence — the ability to stay, to commit, to nurture relationships, whether friendly or romantic, even when they demand effort, compromise, and transformation. The album moves through solitude and nostalgia, exploring the fragile balance between the self and the demands of life, touching on love and ambition as forces that propel forward while simultaneously testing one’s resilience.
In terms of sound, the new album brings with it a clear evolution. Based on an electric guitar that becomes the melodic and harmonic center of the project. Between essential but refined bass lines, references to the new wave and post-punk tradition of The Cure, The Smiths and Interpol emerge. Further defining this new direction is the presence of electronic drums whose timbre nods to the Joy Division/New Order lineage, sharpening the project’s artistic identity. The result is a more dynamic, pulsating, dark, and internationally inclined sound — a decisive step forward in Vikowski’s artistic trajectory, solidifying their identity once and for all.
